Urgent On The Day Issues
Urgent on the day appointments are avaiable each weekday, these are provided by our dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs.) These appointments are released online each morning at 7am and can be booekd via the NHS App. We hold some appointments back for those unable to use technology, for when we open at 8am. These appointments can be booked via telephone or main reception.
ANPs are highly trained staff who can work independently, to take detailed histories from patients, examine them, prescribe when necessary and order investigation and refer patients on when needed. All our ANPs have access to a on call doctor, so if they cannot deal with a specific problem, or they would like a second opinion, they are able to refer to this GP.
We do also have a number of other supporting roles, which may be able to see you quicker than a GP would. This includes, local community pharamcsist, paramedics, MSK specialists and mental health practitioners. This is why GPs have asked reception staff to capture the following information when they book an appointment;
- A detailed description of the symptoms.
- How long the patient has had the symptoms.
- If any treatments have been used prior to attending (Self-care, Pharmacy First, prior visit and prior medication.)
- If a chaperone may be required (if appropriate.)
This is to ensure we can book you in with the most suitable Clinician or service. All of our staff have passed a strict vetting process and are trained in patient confidentiality.
Pre-Booked Routine Appointments
These are for follow up appointments with the Doctor of your choice, subject to availability, or for NEW problems which are not an acute medical problem. These appointments will be available up to 4 weeks in advance. Routine appointments are released for booking at 9am each morning.
Waiting Times
As a surgery, we do our best to run to time. Our appointments are 50% longer than the average GP surgery, but sometimes our clinicians can run a little late, this might be because:
- There was a medical emergency they needed to tend to.
- They were waiting for an ambulance so they could admit a patient to hospital.
- A patient needed a second opinion.
- A patient needed a little extra help or care.
If you are concerned about your wait time, speak to reception staff. They might be able to advise how long the wait is likely to be or book you a different appointment.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.
